Drew Olsen scored a pair of touchdowns in the last eight minutes of the fourth quarter and Drew Olson threw a touchdown in overtime as the eighth-ranked Bruins remained undefeated after rallying for a 30-27 Pac-10 Conference victory over the Cardinal. Stanford (4-3, 3-2 Pac-10) seemed to have the game under control after Babatunde Oshinowo recovered a fumble by Marcus Everett at the UCLA 37 and Nick Frank ran for a seven-yard TD to open a 24-3 lead with 8:26 left in the fourth quarter. But Stanford would not score again until the extra period as Drew led the Bruins to yet another comeback.
Already with fourth-quarter rallies over Washington, California and Washington State, UCLA struck back quickly as Drew scooted six yards for a score to make it 24-10 with 7:04 remaining in regulation. Less than three minutes later, Olson threw a 31-yard TD pass to Joe Cowan, and Drew added his second score of the game and 16th of the season from a yard out with 46 seconds left in the period to tie the contest. Stanford had the ball first in overtime and settled for a 42-yard field goal by Michael Sgroi. UCLA (8-0, 5-0) needed only two plays to complete the comeback as Olson lofted a 23-yard scoring strike to Brandon Breazell just inside the left sideline in the end zone. Drew finished with 82 yards rushing on 18 carries and had six receptions for 87 yards. Olson completed 24-of-35 passes for 293 yards without an interception.
Trent Edwards went 18-of-25 for 169 yards and two TDs for Stanford, which led 7-3 at the half and 14-3 entering the fourth quarter.
